DIY Glitter Cup

I'm a glitter girl. In a glitter world, Beauties.  Here is project using my favorite material! Have you seen my past glitzy tutorials?

                         Holiday Pumpkin:                                             Chevron Jewelry Tray:

1. To begin, find design that you want to use glitter up! I google image bow and lips and copy to Adobe Photoshop Element. You can do this on Word document. Make sure your template fit your mug.

I made each image fit into the canvas size of 4" in width by 5" in height.

For the monogram, I used Varius Multiplex font from Dafont.com.

Download and Print:

- Mug from dollar store and Target
- Craft Glitter from Michael's Arts and Craft
- Aluminum Foil from Walmart
- Small Paint Brush or Concealer Make-Up Brush
- X-acto Knife
- Scissors
- Glue Stick
- Martha Stewart Multi-Surface Durable Decoupage in Gloss from Michael's Arts and Craft
-Cutting Mat

2. Print design and cut. Watch tutorial: http://youtu.be/0Tv9Ud1y1Bc

3. Use the glue stick to adhere onto the front of the contact paper. The contact paper has a waxy coat so the glue will not permanently stick. You will remove the printed stencil after step 5.

4. Cut

5. Create stencil

6. Remove the contact paper back.

7. Apply sticky side of the contact paper to the clean mug surface. Press firmly to remove air bubbles. If it's off center, remove the adhesive and position the sheet until you are happy!

8. With a small paint brush or concealer make-up brush, apply a coat of decoupage on the stencil and sprinkle glitter over it.

9. Let the first coat of glue and glitter dry for 1-2 hours. Clean the brush with warm water and soap after each coating.

10. Apply a second coat of glue and glitter on top of the first coat. Let it dry for 1-2 hours.

11. Gently peel off the adhesive and dust another coat of glitter. Let it dry for 1-2 hours.

12. Seal the glitter with 2-3 coats. Allow each coat to dry for 1-2 hours between coats.

13. While the mugs dry, add a fun print on the bottom of the mug. Layer glue on the back and front of the paper. Seal the paper print with 2-3 coats. Allow each coat to dry for 1-2 hours between coats.

14.  Dry to the touch. Use a brush like a blending make-up brush to dust the glitter off to clean the mug surface. The aluminum foil will make cleaning easy and pour the unused glitter back into its container.

15. Use this as a container to hold utensils, flowers, or as a makeup brush holder.

16. To use this as a drinking mug, let the glue air dry for 28 days for it to be top rack dishwasher safe. The decoupage is non-toxic and will be hard as a rock to hold the glitter.
