Hey my wonderful beauties!
I am finally happy with a do-it-yourself eyelash conditioner and hair growth serum that works for me. Yes, you can use this on your brows too! I have been using my recipe for two months now so will keep you updated. I am so elated how pretty my lashes look lately and couldn't wait to share with you guys and gals. Watch my tutorial here for the recipe with only two ingredients.
I have tried a lot of homemade ones. I guess my lashes are just too sparse, short, and thin for them. My lashes were failing out a lot that mascara didn't help at all. I also tried a few over the counter products that works great like Rapid Lash, and Fysiko growth serum. Overtime, my lash line would get so irritated from the formulas. It looked like I was wearing red eyeliner and a sign that I need to stop. Let me know what products work for you? Maybe I will give it a try. For now, I'm loving my do-it-yourself results!
I began testing different ingredients for more than a year. There has been no success until recently! Over two months ago, I got some makeup in my eye and ended out looking bloodshot red. My eye were killing me so I went to the drugstore to pick of an opthalmic eye gel for instant long lasting relief called GenTeal. I have been using this for many years. I'm sure other brands will work the same. I listed some below.
Lubricant eye gel are artificial tears to help with dry eyes. After a week of using it, my lashes looked long then I had this brilliant idea to use it as a conditioning base! The active ingredient, hypromellose, in this particular gel lubricated my eyeball and also conditioned my lashes to maintain longer growth. It's safe to use over the long term which was important to me.
The second ingredient to grow more lashes is Biotin. Biotin is in many cosmetics like shampoo and conditioner. It is a supplement for people that may have a deficiency of this vitamin that can cause hair loss and thinning. I'm not big in taking a lot of medicine orally unless it is a must so I thought topically will be a safer choice to just target my eyelashes and brows. I focused more on eyelashes during the first month to see if it works and it did!
I ordered biotin in liquid softgels because it contain additional ingredients, soybean oil and glycerin, to help my lashes grow fuller. Glycerin is an humectant and use in so many products from cleansers to moisturizers. It brings moisture from the air onto the hair and creates a protective barrier to hold in the moisture. While the soybean oil promotes hair growth and shine.
Please read the full ingredients of any product you plan to use to avoid an allergic reaction. If you are not sure if are allergic, apply a small amount of the product onto your forearm and wait for 24 hours to see if you developed an reaction. If you do, discontinue using immediately.
